Child safety
Child safety policy
We have zero tolerance for child abuse of any kind.
Our written Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy was approved on 30 July 2026 and is written to meet Victoria's Child Safe Standards under the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.
It applies to every class, every hired venue, and all online contact including email, video lessons and written feedback on work. It binds every adult we engage in a supervisory, invigilation, assistant or volunteer capacity, whether they are paid or not.
Working with Children Checks
A check is required before anyone works with students
Current and valid, without exception. Paid staff hold an Employee check, and a genuinely unpaid volunteer may hold a Volunteer check.
The card is verified, not just claimed
We record each person's name, card number and expiry date, verify the card online before their first session, and check expiry dates every year.
An expired check stops the work that day
Anyone whose check is suspended, revoked or expired stops working with students immediately.
Nobody supervises alone on their first day
They are taken through the policy and the code of conduct before their first session.
Responsibility sits in one place: the person who runs Accel Education maintains the policy, checks that every supervising adult holds a valid check, responds to any concern raised, and makes reports to police or Child Protection where they are required.
Supervision at a hired hall
These rules apply at any venue we hire, including Ashwood Hall, Hall B for the mock exam.
- Students are supervised by an adult holding a current Working with Children Check at all times, including during breaks.
- The policy sets a floor of at least two adults present whenever students are on site, so no adult is ever alone with the group.
- Entry and exit points are monitored, and attendance is recorded on arrival and checked again at dismissal.
- Students stay in the building for the whole morning, breaks included.
- Toilet areas are not supervised by an adult inside. Students go one at a time, with the adult remaining outside.
- We check that fire exits are clear before students arrive and confirm where the first aid kit is. We bring our own kit, because hired venues do not supply one.
Arrival and collection
For the mock exam on Saturday 12 September, doors open at 8:45 am and students are dismissed at 1:00 pm.
- 1
We tick the attendance list at the door.
- 2
We check photo ID against it.
- 3
Phones go into a tray.
- 4
We walk each student to their allocated seat.
- 5
At the end, every paper is counted back against the same attendance list before anyone leaves the hall.
Who we will release your child to
You have nominated someone in writing
Your child is released to you, or to that person.
You have not
Your child is released only to the enrolling parent.
An email or a text message from the enrolling parent naming that person counts as a written nomination. Nothing formal is needed, and it can be sent on the morning, as long as it reaches us before pickup.
Registration will not go through without a mobile number, because that is the number we call if a child has not been collected.
If your child is unwell or upset
Tell us on the registration form rather than at the door. It has a free text field for access needs, a medical condition, or anything else that matters on the day, and what you write there reaches us with the registration.
A student who needs extra time, a different explanation or a quieter space during an examination should ask, and we accommodate it wherever it is reasonable to do so.
On the day
A child who is distressed is not left on their own. We have a first aid kit on site, and we call you on the number you registered with. If a child is in immediate danger we call 000.
What every adult here agrees to
The code of conduct is short, and holding to it is a condition of working with us.
Every adult working with Accel Education will:
- Treat a child with respect and patience.
- Listen to them, and take what they say seriously.
- Give feedback that is honest and specific, never belittling.
- Keep contact on channels a parent can see.
- Remain in an open and visible space with a student.
- Report any concern about a child's safety immediately.
No adult working with Accel Education will:
- Be alone with a student in a closed or private space where it can be avoided, and never at a residence.
- Use physical discipline, or any form of shaming, humiliation or intimidation.
- Contact a student privately through personal social media, a direct message or a personal phone.
- Photograph or film a student without written parental consent.
- Give a student gifts, money or special treatment.
- Attend or supervise while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Dismiss a disclosure from a child, or promise a child to keep one secret.
A breach of the code ends that person's involvement with Accel Education, and is reported to police where the conduct may be criminal.
Photographs and your child's information
We do not photograph or film a student without written parental consent, and an image is only ever used for the purpose that was consented to.
For the mock exam we do not ask for photo consent at all: every registration is stored at the most restrictive setting, so no child who registers through this site appears in any photograph we publish.
Correspondence, including marked work, goes to the parent's email address on file.
Student work, results and personal information are stored securely, used only for teaching and for reporting to that student's family, and never shared with anyone else without written parental consent. There is more detail in our privacy policy.
Raising a concern
If a child is in immediate danger, call 000.
For anything else about a lesson, an event or an adult, contact us on 0452 399 450 or maleeshaspe@gmail.com. A complaint is acknowledged within two business days. Concerns raised by a child are treated as seriously as those raised by an adult.
If your concern is about the person who runs Accel Education, do not come to us first. Go straight to the contacts below.

We do not investigate concerns ourselves, we report them. We will not obstruct a report, and nobody is disadvantaged for making one in good faith.
One duty applies to every adult in Victoria, not only to us: an adult who forms a reasonable belief that a sexual offence has been committed against a child under 16 must disclose it to Victoria Police. Failing to do so is a criminal offence under section 327 of the Crimes Act 1958.
About this policy
Version 1.0, approved 30 July 2026, next review 30 July 2027. It is reviewed every year, and immediately after any child safety incident or complaint. Ask us and we will send you the full document.
If you are registering for the mock exam, the practical detail for the day is on the mock exam page.
